Liverpool have recently secured the Premier League title, but not all of their players meet the criteria to automatically receive a winners’ medal due to limited appearances.
According to Premier League rules, players need to make at least five league appearances to guarantee a medal, although clubs are allocated 40 medals to distribute among players, staff, and other team members at their discretion. ..Continue Reading
Here are six senior Liverpool players who, at present, do not qualify for a medal:
Federico Chiesa: Liverpool’s lone summer signing has yet to qualify, having been limited to just four substitute appearances due to injuries, totaling only 33 minutes in the league.
To secure a medal, Chiesa needs to feature in at least one of Liverpool’s remaining matches.
Vitezslav Jaros: The Czech goalkeeper, third in the pecking order behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher, made a brief appearance against Crystal Palace in October, which isn’t sufficient for automatic qualification.
The club may still award him a medal at their discretion.
Jayden Danns: The 19-year-old played just 10 minutes in a single Premier League match against Ipswich before being loaned to Sunderland.
A back injury has kept him sidelined since, leaving his eligibility uncertain.
Tyler Morton: Despite making five appearances this season, all were in cup competitions. The 22-year-old hasn’t played a Premier League match since 2021-22.
James McConnell: Similar to Morton, McConnell has featured only in cup games this season.
Although named in the Premier League squad four times, he was an unused substitute each time.
Trey Nyoni: Nyoni has been on the bench for several Premier League matches, but his appearances have been limited to the League Cup, FA Cup, and Champions League, leaving him ineligible for a medal.
For these players, the decision to award medals will ultimately depend on the club’s discretion.
