The real reason Garnacho stormed down the Man Utd tunnel

The reason why Alejandro Garnacho headed straight down the Old Trafford tunnel after being substituted against Ipswich Town has come to light.

The Manchester United winger was replaced by Noussair Mazraoui following Patrick Dorgu’s red card for a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson. ..Continue Reading

With the score at 2-1 and only 10 men on the field, Ruben Amorim had to sacrifice attacking options by adding another defender.

Despite this, United’s hopes of maintaining the lead were dashed when Jaden Philogene-Bidace equalized just two minutes after Garnacho left the pitch.

Fortunately for United, Harry Maguire restored the lead with a superb header from a Bruno Fernandes corner.

However, the 3-2 victory at Old Trafford was also memorable for Garnacho’s actions, as he stormed down the tunnel towards the dressing room.

Fan footage from the stadium revealed that the Argentine international informed the staff he was going to change his shirt – a moment not captured by TV broadcasters.

Supporters at Old Trafford expressed their displeasure with Amorim’s decision to substitute Garnacho, who had an impressive first-half performance on the left flank.

The 20-year-old played a key role in United’s fast counter-attacks after Ipswich’s opening goal in the fourth minute, following a mix-up between Dorgu and goalkeeper Andre Onana.

After the match, Amorim explained why he chose to stick with a formation that included five defenders, thus reducing United’s attacking capabilities.

He said: ‘The thinking was we were playing more in the 5-3-1 and I know that is a risk.’

‘I felt the team was OK in controlling of the game and then you make the substitution and you have to choose someone to come out. It was my choice.’

Shortly after the final whistle, Garnacho took to Instagram to post a picture of him walking down the touchline without a caption.

‘You are making a connection with [Marcus] Rashford, right? I know, I know,’ Amorim said in response to a suggestion about Garnacho’s attitude.

‘What I’m saying is I’m going to talk obviously with Garnacho about that [going down the tunnel]. So I will talk about that if you want in the next press conference.’

Earlier, the Argentine was dropped from the United squad for the match against Manchester City after reports surfaced that he had fallen out of favor with manager Ruben Amorim.

However, given the current situation with Rashford on loan at Aston Villa and Amad Diallo sidelined for the rest of the season, Garnacho remains the only winger available in the Red Devils’ squad.

According to an exclusive story by Mail Sport, the 20-year-old seemed to turn his back on Amorim while the Portuguese manager was giving him instructions before he entered the game against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
