Tottenham keen on signing Maguire to keep Harry Kane at the club

Tottenham Hotspur could make a shocking move for Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire this summer.

The 30-year-old is currently out of favour at Old Trafford, but Spurs believe he could be key in keeping Harry Kane in north London.




Maguire and Kane are close team-mates in England and Tottenham believe a move for the defender could help them keep hold of the striker for another campaiign.

According to the Mail, the United star is not pushing to leave, but is keeping an open mind about his future as he enters the summer window.

And Tottenham are said to have made checks on Maguire’s situation ahead of a possible move later this summer.

Maguire is an option with Spurs well placed to make a move should they reach a decision to sign the experienced defender.

Any move for Maguire is likely to be welcomed by Kane, who has a very close relationship with his England team-mate.

Kane’s future at the club is also unclear with Real Madrid and United both interested in his signature this summer.

Meanwhile, Karim Benzema’s announcement that he is leaving Real Madrid has made the La Liga consider a move to sign Kane as his replacement.

According to The Athletic, Maguire does not want to leave Old Trafford, but he is determined to stay and fight for his place in the team.

But, Fabrizio Romano claims: “there will be a meeting next week” to decide his future but that “the idea is for Maguire to leave the club”.
