Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel remained coy over the club’s link with Cristiano Ronaldo when asked about a possible deal by a supporter.
Ronaldo is pushing to leave Manchester United this summer and Chelsea are among the teams who have been offered the opportunity to sign the 37-year-old.
Chelsea’s new co-owner Todd Boehly is believed to be open to the idea of bringing Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge in order to boost Tuchel’s attacking options.
But, Tuchel is reported to have reservations about a transfer move for Ronaldo, with reports claiming that the Chelsea head coach feels the United forward would not fit into his fluid attacking system.
Chelsea fans are also split about Ronaldo’s possible arrival, and when asked by one supporter during their pre-season training camp in Los Angeles, Tuchel gave little away.
As Tuchel was signing autographs, one fan asked: ‘Thomas, do we sign Cristiano Ronaldo?’ The Chelsea boss smiled and replied: ‘I will not tell you.’
Chelsea, meanwhile, are on the verge of announcing their £50m deal to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.
The England international has started his medical and is expected to join up with his new Chelsea teammates this week.
The Blues are also set to miss out on a deal for Leeds United star Raphinha.
A £55m offer was accepted by Leeds but Raphinha’s preference has been to join Barcelona and it’s reported that the Spanish side have now made a bid worth £63m including add-ons.
