Turkish billionaire confirms he has 90% chance of buying Chelsea from Abramovich

Turkish billionaire Murshan Bayrak is confident he has a 90% chance of finalising a deal with Roman Abramovich and completing the takeover of Chelsea.

The Russian billionaire put the European and Club World Cup champions up for sale last week and has already been inundated with offers for the club.

Abramovich is said, however, to remain unconvinced by the credentials of the offer led by Todd Boehly and Hansjorg Wyss, while British property developer Nick Candy is reported to be readying a £2.5b bid which would still fall short of the 55-year-old’s valuation.

Other than Wyss, who last week said Abramovich was desperate to start a bidding war, few interested parties have gone public with their intentions of buying the club.

Bayrak, however, the chairman of construction company AB Group, was bullish about his chances of striking a deal and succeeding the man who has turned Chelsea 0into a modern superclub.

‘We have reached a certain stage,’ he confirmed in an interview with Oda TV (via Sport Witness).

‘Our law and finance department will start talks with theirs in London on Thursday. That’s the way it is at this point. On Thursday, we will notify the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

‘People are talking about it, we made some progress in the talks, and the world believes we have a 90% chance of completing the deal. Abramovich thinks the same.’

Asked about the exact details of his offer, Bayrak added: ‘I won’t tell you (the exact figure). We need to manage this process very well, or we will lose..

‘There are countries in the world that don’t want Turkey to buy it. Let’s keep this a little secret. Let’s get the consent by Thursday.

‘We didn’t give that price (£2.5billion) to the British press. Our offer is under that, I’ll at least say that.’
