Amorim has addressed the situation, and social media rumors suggest Amad, who scored the winning goal at the Etihad, and Alejandro Garnacho might be responsible.
Both players have reportedly reacted angrily to these accusations. According to Mail Online, the club and the players believe they have been falsely accused and are determined to clear their names.
Club officials plan to support the pair, believing that those accusing them are doing so to boost their online presence. Garnacho and Amad wanted to address the issue before the Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen but were advised against it to avoid escalating the matter.
It appears that United has not launched a formal investigation into the leaks, acknowledging that such information is likely to become public given the club’s size.
Although there is no official investigation, the club believes they know the source of the leaks, suspecting it comes from people close to the players rather than the players themselves.
The club hopes that the ongoing publicity will deter further leaks. Amorim recently acknowledged the difficulty of keeping everything within the club.
Speaking after the Manchester derby, he said: “I think it’s impossible to fix nowadays because you have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents. You can talk with friends, so it’s hard to know. It’s not a good thing but let’s move on and go to the next one and see if they find the next starting XI.”
Amorim will be selecting two United XIs over the next week. They face Spurs in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Thursday before a Premier League game with Bournemouth at the weekend.
