Manchester United have reached a deal to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain during the final week of the summer transfer window.
Reports suggest that United will initially pay €50 million (£42.29m) for the Uruguayan midfielder, with an additional €10 million (£8.46m) in potential add-ons.
Ugarte is expected to fly to Manchester as early as Tuesday for his medical examination, and the club is optimistic about finalizing the transfer before the window closes on Friday.
The 23-year-old could even make his debut in the Premier League match against Liverpool this weekend.
United’s acquisition of Ugarte is partially funded by the sale of Scott McTominay, who is set to join Napoli for an initial fee of around £25 million. McTominay may also undergo his medical with the Italian side on Tuesday.

Ugarte might not only replace McTominay in the squad but could also take over his shirt number. Throughout his career, Ugarte has worn numbers like No.4, No.8, No.14, No.15, and No.20, all of which are currently taken at Old Trafford.
His international numbers, including No.5, No.6, No.15, No.17, No.20, and No.25, are also largely unavailable. The No.25 shirt could be an option if Jadon Sancho departs before the transfer deadline.
Another possible option for Ugarte is the No.26 shirt, which he wore at the beginning of his professional career with CA Fenix.
This number has been vacant at Old Trafford since Dean Henderson’s departure a year ago. Alternatively, Ugarte could be assigned the No.2 shirt if Victor Lindelof leaves before the window closes.
