Unai Emery confirms Arsenal job on website

Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery’s personal website has announced his arrival as Arsenal manager.

The site, unai-emery.com, had a single page with a message that read: “Proud to be part of the Arsenal family,” with his signature below and a logo of Arsenal above.

Emery is set to be named the next Arsenal boss in a few days, the former Sevilla boss became available after leaving Paris-Saint Germain at the end of the 2017-18 season, as he has won the Ligue 1 title, two Coupes de France, two Coupes de la Ligue and two French Supercups during his two years in charge there.

The 46-year-old is expected to sign a two-year deal at the Emirates with an option for an additional season.

The Spaniard won three consecutive Europa League titles at Sevilla, and he has a reputation for fluid, attacking football.

The page was removed later on Tuesday night.

While Arsenal say there are no plans for an immediate announcement, it is expected that they could make their move to hire Unai Emery official as early as Wednesday.

Arsenal parted ways with long-time manager Arsene Wenger at the close of the 2017-18 campaign.

Emery’s first major task will be to lead the Gunners back into contention at the top of the Premier League table, with Wenger’s side having dropped out of the top four in the last two years after 19 straight years of Champions League football.

It is also understood that Emery intends to make Aaron Ramsey important to his plans at Arsenal.

The imminent new Arsenal boss is believed to have revealed in his interview his hopes for Ramsey, who has just a year left to run on his contract, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to play important roles.
