Nemanja Vidic picks best three defenders currently playing in Premier League

Nemanja Vidic, the esteemed Manchester United icon, has disclosed his top picks for defenders presently showcasing their skills in the Premier League.

The English Premier League has welcomed a wave of exceptional defensive players lately, and Vidic, a storied figure in football, has named his preferred choices as the season draws to an end.

Vidic, renowned for his strong alliance with Rio Ferdinand at United, acknowledges that several standout defenders have caught his attention this season.

Speaking to The Times, the Serbian said: “The best defenders now? I like talking about the young ones. Micky van de Ven [at Tottenham Hotspur]. He’s fast, strong and good in the air, and has capabilities to really improve.

“The two from Arsenal [William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes] are doing well. Watching them, I feel they like defending and want the clean sheet. I like the mentality they show. And they are a partnership.

“That is important. Arsenal, this season, have not been conceding many goals and the situation when they went to City and didn’t concede — that was a statement of Arsenal as a team.”

Being commended by Vidic, a player of distinguished standing and a collector of numerous trophies, is indeed a significant accolade.

The trio of Van de Ven, Gabriel, and Saliba have been exceptional for their respective teams throughout this season, and they have ample time ahead to further their skills and carve out a legacy akin to that of Vidic.

Gabriel and Saliba are contenders for the Premier League title, but they face a crucial match against Vidic’s old team at Old Trafford, a victory in which is essential to sustain their title aspirations.

As Arsenal vies for the premier league crown, Van de Ven’s focus is on aiding Tottenham in clinching a European slot for the upcoming season. His performance could also sway the title race when they host Manchester City next Tuesday.
