Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Chelsea star N’Golo Kante has developed into the ‘best all-round midfielder in Europe’ and believes he will be vital for France at the Euros.
The Frenchman has enjoyed a superb end to the campaign, winning the Man of the Match award in both legs of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid as well as the final against Manchester City.
Kante’s displays en route to European glory with Chelsea have even heralded calls for him to win the Ballon d’Or – and his case will get stronger if France win the Euros this summer.
Now Wenger has heaped praise on Kante, highlighting how he has developed his game to add more attacking strings to become the complete midfielder – and France’s stand-out player.
Asked to name Les Bleus’ player to watch, Arsene Wenger told beIN SPORTS: ‘N’Golo Kante has added something to his game.
‘Before he won the ball and he made a good pass, he was an exceptional ball winner. ‘I say an exceptional ball-winner because he wins decisive balls without making a foul.
‘But he is now capable of running with the ball and making a good pass in the final third. ‘That’s why I am certain he is the best all-round midfielder in Europe at the moment.’

Former Chelsea player Frank Leboeuf was also glowing in his praise of Kante after the Champions League final, telling ESPN: ‘We were expecting also something great from N’Golo Kante, I don’t even have the words for that.
‘That guy is worth a billion. It’s impossible to sell him. That guy has to stay for the rest of his life at Chelsea. That guy was absolutely a monster.’
Kante was given extra time off after the Champions League triumph before linking up with the France squad on Wednesday, and they kick off their tournament against Germany on Tuesday June 15.
