Why N’Golo Kante missed Chelsea’s game with Burnley

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante was the big omission from Lampard’s squad to face Burnley at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old Frenchman has struggled with injuries throughout the season and it was another issue that saw him in the stands for the game.

The France international picked up a hamstring injury in training, to add to his frustrations and cause something of a problem for Frank Lampard.

Although Lampard confirmed that the injury is a minor one for now.

With the midfielder not in the team for Burnley game, Lampard went with a midfield three of Jorginho, Barkley and Mason Mount.

Out of the 21 Premier League ganes so far, Kante has only managed 12 starts with injuries to his hamstring, knee and groin over the course of the season.

There was another surprise at the back, however, with Andreas Christensen getting a Premier League start, with Antonio Rudiger in the centre of the defense as well.

Chelsea have struggled at home this campaign, losing to West Ham, Bournemouth and Southampton towards the end of 2019.

But the Blues were able to get a convincing 3-0 victory over Burnley with Jorginho, Tammy Abraham and Hudson-Odoi on the scoresheet.
