Zola confirms Chelsea interest in Callum Wilson

Chelsea are just one of the many clubs interested in signing Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson, according to Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola.

Maurizio Sarri’s men have been heavily reliant on Eden Hazard’s attacking threat this campaign with the Belgian scoring nine goals and contributing nine assists for Chelsea this season.

Hazard has often been deployed as a false number nine for the Blues, with neither Alvaro Morata or Olivier Giroud convincing Sarri enough that they can the line for Chelsea.

Wilson has continued his fine form for Bournemouth this campaign, scoring nine goals in all competitions for Eddie Howe’s side.

Wilson also had an England debut to remember, rounding off a 3-0 friendly victory against the USA last month.

Bournemouth visit Chelsea in a Carabao Cup quarter-final tie at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. Asked ahead of the match about Chelsea’s interest in Wilson, Zola said:

“I’m sure that there are a lot of players that are linked with us.

“Certainly Callum Wilson is doing very well for his club and he is of interest, not just for us, but for many.”

Wilson signed a new four-year deal with Bournemouth in July.
