Chelsea have unveiled their new third kit ahead of the new Premier League season and it looks similar to a Crystal Palace home shirt.
The new design was released on Monday, with the red and blue stripes looking just like Crystal Palace’s classic jersey, although Chelsea claim that their inspiration came from somewhere else.
The blues tweeted alongside pictures of the new third kit design: ‘Meet a new legacy. The 20/21 @nikefootball third kit is here!
‘One for the sneakerheads. Inspired by the 1990s Ultramarine Air Max 180 and classic shirts of the past! Available 10.09.20. #ItsAChelseaThing’
The Eagles seem unimpressed with the final hashtag, and the club retweeted the post with the caption: ‘ItsNotThoughIsIt’
However, Chelsea went into details on the inspiration behind the third kit on their website, and it is not simply red and blue, it is ’ember glow and ultramarine.’
‘The kit, which Chelsea will wear for our European campaign, is part of a wider Nike collection which celebrates jersey culture and the iconic Air Max archives,’ the official Chelsea site read.

‘The Blues’ new design is heavily influenced by the much-loved original Air Max 180, a shoe which was first released in 1991 and also shares the inspirations of the Chelsea kits of the era.
‘The colours shine through in a third kit which takes all those influences and creates a sharp, modern football kit.
‘The primary colour is ember glow, with ultramarine blue playing a strong supporting role. The blue appears on the jersey’s V-neck collar, shoulders and on vertical stripes which gradually fade away down the front of the shirt. Ember glow shorts and blue socks complete the full look.’
Chelsea start their Premier League season against Brighton on Monday night while Crystal Palace will play Southampton on Saturday.
