Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be fined at least £1million for giving a bombshell interview to Piers Morgan, in which he slammed Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s board and the standards of the club.
The 37-year-old went nuclear in an interview with Morgan, which came just hours after United’s 2-1 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Ronaldo missed the win through illness, having also been absent for the Carabao Cup victory against Aston Villa on Thursday.
The Portugal skipper was desperate to leave the club last summer but was denied his wish and he has been forced to play second fiddle to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial so far this term.
Ronaldo was fined two weeks’ wages in October when he refused to come on as a substitute against Spurs, with the striker deciding to walk down the tunnel before the game had finished.
And the Red Devils are expected to do the same this time around, with Ronaldo facing another fine of around £1m.
The club have refused to comment on Ronaldo’s interview but it will be viewed dimly, as Ten Hag spoke about the ‘togetherness’ at the club after the win against Fulham.
Ronaldo has likely played his last game for the Manchester club and he could be released even before the January transfer window.
