Man Utd squad pick between Erik ten Hag & Ronaldo after Piers Morgan interview

Cristiano Ronaldo’s actions this campaign have seen Manchester United’s squad grow tired of the player’s antics and the squad are behind Erik ten Hag’s treatment of the striker.

The Portuguese star gave a bombshell interview to Piers Morgan on Sunday in which he criticised Ten Hag, United’s board and former team-mates such as Wayne Rooney.

Ronaldo requested to leave the club last summer but left it too late into the transfer window for the club to find a replacement, with Ten Hag focused on other areas of the team that needed more urgent attention.

That infuriated Ronaldo, who was desperate to continue in the UEFA Champions League. His mood hasn’t improved much since, with the player refusing to go on the club’s pre-season tour and starting just four of their 14 league games this season.

Ronaldo is a huge inspiration for many at Old Trafford but his refusal to come on as a substitute against Spurs in October lost him much support.

It’s now reached a point where, despite the affection he’s held in, United players would be happy to see the back of Ronaldo.

According to the Telegraph, ‘no tears would be shed’ if he were to leave the club and in many minds players have already moved on from his second stint at the Theatre of Dreams.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be fined around £1million for his interview, which is the equivalent of two weeks’ wages.

The Red Devils’ board are set to speak to Erik Ten Hag today in order to determine how they should resolve the situation.

It’s not beyond question that the Manchester club could choose to terminate Ronaldo’s contract, such is the level of anger at board level.
