Messi produced a Man of the Match display as Argentina secured a crucial 2-0 win over Mexico a the 2022 World Cup on Saturday.
The 35-year-old, widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time, scored a superb goal from outside of the box to put Argentina 1-0 up. He then provided the assist for Enzo Fernandez to double his team’s advantage late on.
Footage subsequently emerged of Argentina’s dressing room celebrations. After suffering a shock 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia last week, this was a game they simply had to win.

Alvarez reacted to one particular video of Argentina’s celebrations by accusing the Paris Saint-Germain star of disrespecting a Mexico shirt or flag.
The footage caused a bit of a stir on social media and eventually reached Alvarez, who has now reacted furiously.
In a series of tweets, according to the Daily Mail, Alvarez wrote: “Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag.
“He better pray to God that I don’t find him. “Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico! “I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the bulls**t that Messi did.”
Considering Messi has caused so little controversy throughout his career, it’s hard to imagine that the player’s intention was to disrespect Mexico.
Buzzing after Argentina’s victory, it appears that he was simply trying to take off his boots and ended up kicking the Mexico shirt in the process, unintentionally.
