Steven Gerrard, the iconic Liverpool and Premier League figure, has admitted to some regret over not playing under Jose Mourinho.
However, he insists that he is content with his decision to reject Chelsea’s approach.

After leading Liverpool to Champions League glory in 2005 and being named man of the match in the final against AC Milan in Istanbul, Gerrard became a target for top clubs globally.
Despite receiving a record-breaking offer from Chelsea, Gerrard chose to remain loyal to Liverpool.
Rick Parry, Liverpool’s CEO at the time, even suggested that Gerrard was close to moving to Chelsea, indicating a possible shift to one of Liverpool’s domestic competitors.
Nonetheless, Gerrard ultimately decided against the move and continued to represent his childhood club until 2015.
“I love the manager, I love the man,” Gerrard told Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel of Mourinho.
“I’ve had a distant relationship with him for many many years. But, I have regrets for not playing for the man and the coach because I know he would’ve made me a better player.
“I know we would’ve added more trophies to what I’ve already won.
“But, looking back now, I have no regrets not signing for Chelsea, I don’t regret not signing for Chelsea at all. I’m happy with the decision I made.”
Steven Gerrard’s tenure at Liverpool was marked by triumphs in the FA Cup, League Cup, and Community Shield. He concedes that a transfer to Chelsea could have expanded his trophy collection and furthered his development under Mourinho, known as ‘the Special One’.
