Former Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch has revealed the one player who intimidated him the most during his career.
Crouch enjoyed a successful stint in English football, playing for clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Portsmouth, Southampton, Liverpool, and Stoke City, before retiring after a brief spell with Burnley in 2019.

Since hanging up his boots, Crouch has appeared frequently as a pundit on TV for outlets like TNT Sports and Amazon Prime.
In a past episode of ‘The Peter Crouch Podcast,’ he disclosed that the only player who ever truly scared him was former Rangers, Wolves, and Millwall defender Kevin Muscat.
He said: “Kevin Muscat scared me. You know people would say ‘I’m going to break your legs’ – when he would say it, you genuinely believed him.”
While Crouch’s co-host added: “My seven-year-old asked me who is the dirtiest player of all time. I’ve gone straight to YouTube and typed Kevin Muscat in and let him see the horrors. He understood.
“You can get one-off Kevin Muscat horrors. You can get the best of Kevin Muscat, which is the worst of Kevin Muscat. It’s terrifying.”
Everton veteran Ashley Young once recounted an encounter during his early days at Watford, where he claimed that Muscat threatened to “break his legs.” Arsenal legend Ian Wright also referred to Muscat as a “low life” due to his rough playing style.
Despite his notorious aggression on the pitch, Muscat has transitioned into management and is now keen to embrace a more laid-back approach in his post-playing career.
“I want to be involved in teams that play a certain brand of football and that maybe contradicts what most people perceive to my playing days,” he told AFP.
“I’m trying to forge my own way in terms of the way I coach, the way I manage and the way my teams play. That’s really all I can do.”
