Toni Kroos has expressed strong feelings about the outcome of the 2024 Ballon d’Or, as Vinicius Jr. missed out on the award to Spanish midfielder Rodri.
Rodri was crowned the Ballon d’Or winner at Monday night’s ceremony in Paris.
However, the event stirred controversy, especially when Vinicius Jr., the favorite to win, chose not to attend.

Following Rodri’s crowning moment, the Real Madrid winger responded on social media as he posted on X: “I’ll do it 10x if I have to. They’re not ready.”
Since the ceremony, countless players have come out against France Football, with Vini’s Brazil teammate Richarlison claiming via Instagram: “Vini not winning this Ballon d’Or was embarrassing, and the only thing that lost today was football.”
Toni Kroos also made comment on the decision to snub his former Madrid teammate as he rather satirically replied to a post confirming the results.
“Where do we start? [laughing emoji],” Kroos commented on Instagram.
It’s fair to say the German appeared far from impressed with the result, but, he did pay thanks to those who voted after it was confirmed he finished ninth in the rankings.
Kroos posted on X: “Wow. Thanks a lot.”
The 34-year-old retired from football over the summer, with his last match being Germany’s defeat to Spain in the quarter-final of Euro 2024.
