On Tuesday evening, US President Trump held a formal dinner at the iconic White House, welcoming Saudi crown prince Prince Mohammad bin Salman to Washington, D.C. .Continue Reading
Numerous notable figures were present at the event, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and football icon Ronaldo, who currently represents Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr.
This occasion marks one of Ronaldo’s rare visits to the United States since 2016, though it remains uncertain whether the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star was officially part of bin Salman’s delegation.
Following the release of footage from his White House visit, fans have pointed out a ‘fascinating’ aspect of Ronaldo’s demeanor.
While the dinner was primarily aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties between Trump and Saudi leadership, the President took a moment during his remarks to acknowledge Ronaldo and mention that his son, Barron, is an admirer.
Turning to the Portuguese athlete, Trump told attendees: “My son is a big fan of Ronaldo.
“And Barron (Trump) got to meet him, and I think he respects his father a little bit more now, just the fact that I introduced you.”
Prior to Trump’s direct comments, a video shared on social media captured Ronaldo having a notably low-key evening, despite being one of the most recognizable athletes in the world.
Posting the clip on platform X, a fan commented: “Somehow a really fascinating clip. It’s probably the first time you see Ronaldo in a room full of people and not being the center of attention.
“No one has their phone in his face, no one is shouting or staring at him. He’s just walking around like a completely normal person. I bet he enjoyed that as well for once.”
Another added: “They all probably came up to him after.”
Ronaldo’s appearance at the White House coincides with speculation that the Portuguese and US national teams will face off in a friendly match in Atlanta in March 2026, as part of preparations for the World Cup, which will be staged across North America that summer.
Should the fixture be confirmed and Ronaldo participate, it would mark his first game on American soil since 2014.
