Chelsea dominated proceedings, with goals from Estevao and Liam Delap, along with an own goal by Jules Kounde, securing a convincing 3-0 victory.
Barcelona’s challenge became even tougher when Ronald Araujo was dismissed for a second yellow card in the 44th minute.
The win pushed Chelsea up to fifth in the Champions League standings, while Barcelona dropped to 15th.
Their position could worsen depending on results from other teams playing on Wednesday.
Throughout the match, Barcelona supporters voiced their frustration with Araujo, who endured a difficult night.
One fan said: “Enough is enough. Get this guy off the team, for God’s sake!”
Another tweeted: “There’s no way Araujo is redeeming himself ever again in my eyes, he better leave the club now.”
A third fan added: “Araujo should never play for Barca again.”
Someone else wrote: “I’m not even upset about losing, I just hope I never see Araujo play for my club ever again.”
A fifth commented: “This should be Ronald Araujo’s last UCL game for Barcelona. Never again.”
Another fan said: “Ronald Araujo was never good.”

According to LiveScore, Araujo recorded just one interception and failed to make a single tackle during his time on the pitch.
He also committed one foul and lost possession four times.
After the match, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick expressed disappointment with Araujo’s performance.
He said: “We started very well and had a big chance to score the first goal. Then the red card changed the game. It’s not easy to come back against this Chelsea team with ten players. We have to accept this defeat.
“The first yellow, I don’t know what happened. I have to speak with him and see the video. He shouldn’t have gone in like that for the second foul – it was not the right move, but it can happen in football.”
Looking ahead, Barcelona return to La Liga action this weekend against Alaves at the Camp Nou. Chelsea will host league leaders Arsenal in a highly anticipated London derby.
