Sergio Aguero gives shock Premier League title prediction

Sergio Aguero has suggested that Manchester United remains a strong contender in the Premier League title race, positioning them as more likely challengers to Manchester City than Arsenal and Liverpool.

Manchester City has faced a challenging start in their quest for a fourth consecutive title, experiencing only one win in six League matches, causing them to fall behind the leaders at the top of the table.

Currently trailing by five points behind leaders Arsenal and four behind Liverpool and Aston Villa, City’s position may worsen this weekend.

Due to their participation in the Club World Cup, City won’t return to Premier League action until December 27.

Arsenal dominated the title race for a significant portion of the previous season and has the opportunity to top the table at Christmas with a decisive victory at Anfield on Saturday.

This match provides Jurgen Klopp’s side the chance to strengthen their own title aspirations.

However, Aguero, the former City striker, expanded his perspective beyond the frontrunners when discussing potential obstacles to Guardiola and his team’s quest for another League title.

Aguero didn’t dismiss the possibility of a surprise challenge from Manchester United, currently positioned seventh and 11 points behind Arsenal.

He also pointed to weakened teams like Tottenham and Newcastle, both dealing with key absentees, as potential contenders in the race.

“You can never sleep on Man United at this stage of the season,” Aguero told

“They are one of the biggest threats to Man City’s Premier League title. I also think Tottenham are title contenders, who have improved a lot under Ange Postecoglou.

“Even despite their ups and downs, Newcastle are also in with a chance of the title as they always put up a fight.”
