Sancho, who joined Chelsea on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window, saw his time at United marred by a falling-out with then-manager Erik ten Hag, an incident that marked the beginning of his struggles in Manchester. ..Continue Reading
Since then, both Sancho and Ten Hag have moved on from the club.
Sancho’s future now hinges on Chelsea’s performance this season. The loan agreement includes a clause for a permanent £25 million transfer, which will activate if Chelsea finish in the top 14 of the Premier League.
Currently, the Blues are in third place, behind Liverpool and Manchester City, with 19 points from their first 11 matches.
Given Chelsea’s strong start and historical consistency, it seems unlikely they would drop below 14th.
However, in the slim chance Chelsea’s obligation to buy Sancho isn’t triggered, Amorim may face a decision about integrating the player into his plans.
Former Portugal international Jose Fonte has suggested that Amorim, known for his adaptability, could potentially find a place for Sancho in the squad.
“Jadon Sancho will get a chance to impress Ruben Amorim in the summer because it’s a fresh start and a new opportunity for everyone,” Fonte told JeffBet.
“Something might click between him and Amorim because he knows exactly what he wants from his players in every area of the pitch.
“He also likes to give the No. 10s freedom to be creative and that’s exactly what Sancho needs. It could be a great opportunity for him.”
Sancho made an impressive start at Chelsea, delivering assists in his first three games against Bournemouth, West Ham, and Brighton.
However, his influence waned in the following matches, with quieter performances in a draw against Nottingham Forest and a loss to Liverpool. Since then, the England international has missed six consecutive games.
Manager Enzo Maresca attributed Sancho’s absence to a minor injury and illness, but rumors about the true reason continue to circulate.
Whether Ruben Amorim would reintegrate Sancho into Manchester United remains uncertain, especially as he focuses on moving the club beyond a lackluster decade.
Amorim signaled his intent for change by parting ways with Ruud van Nistelrooy and has a wealth of options for the inside forward roles.
Players like Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad are already competing for those positions.
