Ruben Amorim names two Man Utd untouchables with club open to selling rest of the squad

Reports indicate that Manchester United are open to offers for their entire squad in January, except for two players deemed ‘untouchable’ by new manager Ruben Amorim.

Since taking over from Sporting Lisbon in mid-November, Amorim has evaluated the squad through 12 matches, using 25 players across three competitions. ..Continue Reading

The upcoming FA Cup third-round tie against Arsenal presents another key opportunity for players to impress.

Last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool ended United’s run of four consecutive defeats during a challenging festive period. Amorim confirmed the club’s intention to be active in the January transfer window but highlighted the necessity to sell before making any purchases.

Thus, the Old Trafford management is willing to offload all but two stars for the right price. Summer signing Leny Yoro, acquired for £52 million under former manager Erik ten Hag, is one of the untouchable players. The Mail reports that breakout star Amad, nearing a new long-term contract, is the other player the club refuses to entertain offers for.

It appears that while the rest of the squad could be available for the right offer, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, previously considered unsellable, might now be on the table. Garnacho has been linked with a return to Atletico Madrid, while Chelsea is reportedly leading the chase for academy graduate Mainoo.

Amorim recently shed light on United’s plans for January, explaining: “When the window is open, we can try to do something and we will try to do something. But I think, in the next weeks, we are going to have more time to train and we can improve, that’s the only way.

“We had a lot of games without training, now we will have more space to grow. You can see that the context is worse in this moment, as we had a lot of losses, so we have to manage everything.”

On which positions will be targeted, Amorim said: “I will keep that to myself. But we’ll try to do something.”

Marcus Rashford is expected to be the most prominent and valuable player up for sale. Last month, the out-of-favour forward expressed his desire for a fresh challenge.

AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and several clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown interest in acquiring his services, either on loan or through a permanent transfer.
