Carlo Ancelotti ‘detests’ lack of defensive work from Mbappe & Vinicius Jr

‘My players aren’t lazy but we are struggling to work effectively together’, was Ancelotti’s line on Tuesday after defeat to AC Milan.

On Friday, Ancelotti urged his players to put into action what they had discussed during the week, stressing the importance of commitment, sacrifice, and team spirit.

According to Relevo, Ancelotti is particularly frustrated when Kylian Mbappe fails to track back, when Vinicius Junior doesn’t press after losing possession, or when the central midfielders act independently.

In his press conference ahead of the Osasuna match, he intentionally made his discontent clear, feeling that he and the club deserve more in return for the support they’ve shown the players.

Ancelotti also wants more support from the club to strengthen the squad, though he refrains from openly criticizing them, as he feels indebted to Florentino Perez and is willing to follow the club’s stance on transfers.

Tensions have escalated rapidly at the Bernabeu, and Ancelotti’s approach is a risky one, but he seems to feel that he has few other options to motivate the team.

As he noted, his words will eventually fade, but the team’s performances will tell the real story.
