Carlo Ancelotti names the player to win Ballon d’Or after Bayern defeat

Carlo Ancelotti has endorsed a Real Madrid standout as a contender for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

Following Real Madrid’s sensational turnaround against Bayern Munich on the night of May 8, which clinched their spot in the UEFA Champions League final once more, the revered Italian manager made his forecast.

In an electrifying match, the 14-time European titleholders came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, with substitute Joselu delivering a crucial late double, as reported by Eurosport.

Even with Alphonso Davies scoring first for Bayern, Real Madrid triumphed with a 4-3 aggregate score, setting up a clash with Borussia Dortmund in the finale.

Joselu was lauded for his pivotal role, but Ancelotti gave special commendation to Vinicius Junior.

The Brazilian forward’s dynamic performance against the German team proved his status as one of today’s top footballers.

His rapid pace and deft footwork wreaked havoc on the defense. Vinicius didn’t score against Bayern, but his influence was significant, sparking Real Madrid’s extraordinary rally with a daring attempt in the 88th minute.

Having missed the Ballon d’Or shortlist last year, Vini Jr. is now a strong candidate, bolstered by his La Liga victory and the Champions League final berth.

However, he faces tough competition from teammate Jude Bellingham, who has impressed in his first season with Real Madrid.

With Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe’s chances waning after their teams’ UEFA Champions League semi-final departures, the odds favor the ex-Flamengo prodigy.

After Madrid’s win over Bayern, Ancelotti voiced his support for Vinicius to claim this year’s Ballon d’Or.

“I think Viní Jr. is close to winning the Ballon d’Or,” the 64-year-old manager said, as cited by MadridXtra.
