Arsenal recently held discussions with Gyokeres’ agent to advance negotiations for a potential move to the Emirates.
While the club had been considering both Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko as options this summer, reports indicate that Gyokeres has now emerged as their primary target.
Club representatives met with his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, and are reportedly preparing to submit a formal offer soon.
Sources suggest Arsenal are keen to finalize the deal quickly, with Gyokeres also eager to make the switch to North London.
The next step for Arsenal is to reach an agreement with Sporting, though club president Frederico Varandas has strongly criticized Gyokeres’ agent, accusing him of attempting to pressure the club into accepting a lower fee.
Although Gyokeres has a €100 million release clause, reports indicate Sporting may be willing to negotiate a transfer for around €60 million plus additional performance-based bonuses.
However, Varandas has denied that any prior agreement was made regarding a reduced fee, making negotiations more complex.
‘One thing you should already know is me better,’ Varandas said. ‘Threats, blackmail and insults don’t work with me. I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for 60+10 because I never promised him that.
‘This game that the agent is playing only makes the situation worse. [Are there offers for 60 million?] To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Viktor Gyokeres, neither today nor last season.’
Arsenal continue negotiations with RB Leipzig over a potential transfer for Benjamin Sesko, with sporting director Andrea Berta optimistic that an agreement could be reached for approximately £75 million.
However, discussions have yet to yield significant progress.
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Juventus remain keen on securing the former Coventry City forward.
United manager Ruben Amorim has been eager to reunite with Sesko at Old Trafford, but the club’s absence from European competition next season may hinder their chances of completing the deal.
