Barcelona mock Real Madrid’s Ballon d’Or boycott over Vinicius Jr snub

Barcelona wasted no time in teasing Real Madrid for their choice to skip the Ballon d’Or ceremony after Vinicius Junior missed out on the award.

However, once news emerged that Manchester City’s Rodri would be the one to receive the prestigious honor, Real Madrid decided to pull out from the Paris event at the last minute.

In contrast, several Barcelona players from the men’s team attended the ceremony, with young talents like Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi nominated for the Kopa Trophy, which Yamal ultimately won due to his impressive performances for both club and country.

Yamal also ranked in the Ballon d’Or’s top 10 list. Barcelona’s social media team appeared to poke fun at Real Madrid’s absence, expressing gratitude to the Ballon d’Or for the “warm welcome.”

Responding to Ballon d’Or’s official X post of the Barcelona men’s and women’s team entering the gala, Barca’s social media team wrote: “We are truly honoured to be here. Thank you, Ballon d’Or, for such a warm and gracious welcome.”

The players will now return to Barcelona to celebrate Yamal’s Kopa Trophy win, and the Spanish star will likely present his award when his team take on Espanyol on Sunday, November 3 at home.
