In the second half, French star Kylian Mbappe scored in the 50th minute, resulting in a 1-1 draw between the two teams.
Real Madrid dominated the match but were continually frustrated by Atletico’s famously stubborn defensive tactics.
During the first half, Bellingham appeared to lose his composure when a pitchside microphone picked up his x-rated rant directed at an official.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Bellingham was heard shouting: “F*** you, man! F*** off!”
The incident occurred after the ball went out for a throw-in, and Bellingham lost his temper when the linesman awarded the throw-in to Atletico instead of Real.
Although Bellingham used expletive language towards the official, he was not shown a yellow card. It is uncertain whether La Liga will decide to investigate the matter, which could result in potential retrospective punishment for the English player.
As a result of the 1-1 draw, Real Madrid remains at the top of the La Liga table, just one point ahead of Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona has the opportunity to narrow the gap to the top two on Sunday night when they face Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
Speaking after the match, Real manager Carlo Ancelotti said: “The second half went well, the team is disappointed because they believe they deserved to win. We were close.
“But we must be happy, we are still leaders after an intense week and now we have a calmer week until Tuesday [against Manchester City].”
He added: “We came out of the game with good feelings.
“The penalty situation affected the team. Before we played too slowly. In the second half we played with more width, Vinicius and Rodrygo created a lot of danger.”
