During stoppage time, a controversial incident occurred when Everton’s penalty decision was overturned following a lengthy VAR review.
Ultimately, both teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Reports have since emerged that United’s captain Fernandes was involved in an altercation during halftime.
According to The Telegraph, the Portuguese player clashed with Everton legend Derek Mountfield on the touchline.
The report read: “Mountfield playfully mimed elbowing United players as they walked on to the pitch, with Fernandes taking exception to the joke and having words with the former centre-back.”
As a result of the draw, Man United remained in 15th place in the Premier League, one point behind Everton.
Speaking after the game, Fernandes said: “When you are in the dressing room at half-time after a game like this, you just have to focus on yourself and try to lift your standard and your game to try to get something from the game.
“Obviously, it was very tough for us in the first half because we were trying to do the things but it wasn’t working out in the way that we wanted.”
He added: “We need to be aware that the position we’re in is not the best, it’s not where the club needs to be. We need to demand more from ourselves.”
