Chelsea board stance over Thomas Tuchel return

Chelsea board consider Thomas Tuchel’s return to the club impossible as they continue to stand by Graham Potter, according to reports.

Potter is under huge pressure at Stamford Bridge as the defeat to Southampton on Saturday afternoon has left Chelsea with only one win in their last 10 matches.

The Blues currently sit 10th in the Premier League and 11 points behind fourth-placed Spurs, while they must overturn a 1-0 defeat to Dortmund in order to progress further in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite Chelsea’s poor performances, the club’s board are believed to be standing behind Potter and view him as the right man to improve the situation.

Chelsea fans have already sang Tuchel’s name during games this campaign, with a section of fans believing that the decision to sack the German coach in September was the wrong move.

But, the Evening Standard claims that the idea of Tuchel returning to Chelsea is ‘impossible’ as the club’s hierarchy ‘grew frustrated’ with how he worked.

The report also claims that PSG are looking at the idea of re-appointing Tuchel to replace Christophe Galtier.

PSG sacked Tuchel just more than two years ago but the French side are now reported to be willing to admit that they made a mistake.

Tuchel, who is currently out of work after he was sacked by Chelsea earlier this campaign, would need assurances before agreeing to return to PSG.

Towards the end of his stint in Paris, Tuchel had fallen out with sporting director Leonardo but he has been replaced by Luis Campos since last year.
