Chelsea respond after Bayern approach for Levi Colwill

Chelsea are determined to retain Levi Colwill amidst Bayern Munich’s interest.

German reports earlier this week indicated that Bayern had initiated discussions for the 21-year-old defender.

Bayern’s interest extends to Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, a centre-back who might exit on a free transfer next year.

Bayern’s strategy includes acquiring both Tah, a German international, and Colwill, who aligns with their criteria for a left-footed defender.

Last year, Chelsea dismissed advances from Liverpool and Manchester City for Colwill, and as per The Guardian, they are not planning to let Colwill go to Bayern this summer either.

Following his commendable loan performance last season, Brighton sought a permanent deal for Colwill but were turned down by Chelsea’s £30m valuation.

Under Mauricio Pochettino this Premier League season, Colwill has started 20 games, demonstrating his adaptability by playing both central defense and left-back positions.

Speaking before the start of this campaign, Pochettino said of Colwill: ‘I think he can be one of the greatest centre-backs in England.’

In other developments, Chelsea have engaged in negotiations with Aston Villa regarding their forward Jhon Duran.

Colombian reports suggest that Chelsea have settled on a £42 million transfer fee with Villa and are currently in talks over the player’s personal terms.

Additionally, Villa has expressed interest in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, but those discussions are being conducted independently of the Duran transaction.

Asked if he sees himself at Chelsea next season, Gallagher said at a press conference on Thursday: ‘Well, I am a Chelsea player right now and like I said, now I am just thinking about England and the tournament.’
