New footage emerges of Erik Ten Hag ripping into Man Utd player during Chelsea draw

New footage from Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea has shown manager Erik ten Hag ripping into Luke Shaw.

Shaw has reclaimed his place of late, and started ahead of Tyrell Malacia at Stamford Bridge. And United ended the game with a point, with Casemiro heading home a late equaliser after Jorginho had put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot.

There was still time for both clubs to snatch a winner after the Brazilian opened his account for the Red Devils in stoppage time. And, as the game ticked towards conclusion, Ten Hag’s feelings looked clear.

Shaw has returned to the starting line-up for the last four matches, having come off the bench for Malacia in the Manchester Derby defeat in October.

The former Southampton star played the full 90 minutes against Chelsea, and it was his cross that gave the assist for Casemiro.

Deep into stoppage time, though, Shaw could be seen taking his time after receiving the ball from the touchline. The camera then shows Ten Hag, who was visibly animated at the lack of urgency in restarting the match.

Just thirty seconds of the six minutes’ added-on time remained, but Ten Hag didn’t seem happy at all. As well as shouting in the player’s direction, he threw his arm up and gestured towards the pitch.

Before United travelled to west London, much of the conversation was about Cristiano Ronaldo. He was left out of the squad after refusing to come on in the midweek win over Tottenham, and Ten Hag explained the situation before kick-off at Stamford Bridge.

“What the talk – if you ask about that – is between Cristiano and me,” the Dutchman said. “The statement is also clear, I think. He remains an important player in the squad.

“I am the manager, I am responsible for the culture here and I have to set standards and values and I have to control them. In the team, we have values and standards and I have to control that.

“After Vallecano, I told him it was unacceptable but not him everyone, this is the second time, there are consequences. We miss him tomorrow. It’s a miss for the squad but it’s important for the attitude and mentality of the group and now we have to focus on Chelsea as that is important.”
