Ajax winger Antony is expected to finally undergo a medical with the club over the next 48 hours after Manchester United agreed an £85m deal to sign the Brazilian star.
The 22-year-old attacker is expected to arrive in the north-west on Monday before undergoing the first part of his medical in order to sign for United.
Antony has made no secret of his desire to move to Old Trafford and despite saying they would not sell the Brazilian, Ajax caved on Sunday by accepting a club record fee for the player.
Given Antony requires a work permit and visa, it’s unlikely that the player will be registered in time for Thursday’s game against Leicester City.
To do so, Antony’s move would have to be completed before midday on Wednesday in order for him to be registered.
But in any case, Ten Hag wants Antony to have at least a number of training sessions with his new team-mates before he makes his debut.
Should his transfer be completed by Wednesday, the plan is for Antony to make his debut against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Sunday.
Antony is unlikely to start against the Gunners given he hasn’t played in Ajax’s last two games but he can expect a place on the bench against Arteta’s side.
