Cesc Fabregas has expressed his desire for England’s standout player to join Spain’s squad for Euro 2024.
As the anticipation for Euro 2024 intensifies with the event starting in Germany in just over two months, speculation abounds about the standout players and potential champions.

England and France are the top contenders, but Spain is considered a dark horse with potential.
From 2008 to 2012, La Roja was the pinnacle of international football, clinching two European Championships and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The golden era was marked by iconic figures, yet the current crop has struggled to emulate their illustrious forerunners.
Spain’s recent campaigns have seen early exits: a group-stage departure at the 2014 World Cup and a round of 16 farewell at Euro 2016.
The 2018 World Cup brought more disappointment with a last-16 penalty loss to Russia, a scenario that repeated in 2022 against Morocco.
Despite a valiant effort, Spain fell short against Italy in the Euro 2020 semi-finals, advancing only through extra time and penalties.
The absence of a 90-minute knockout victory since 2012 hints at a missing element in Spain’s lineup.
In an exclusive with SPORTbible, Cesc Fabregas, a champion of both the World Cup and Euros, confessed his wish for Phil Foden of Manchester City to be part of Spain’s team for Euro 2024.
“I would go for more of an offensive players, more of a number 10. I think I would go for [Phil] Foden,” Fabregas said.
“A Foden type of player, I think we need it in Spain.”
The ex-Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona player highlighted that Foden’s skills, honed by Pep Guardiola, particularly his adeptness in confined areas, could provide the missing piece for Spain’s team.
“I think we need talent in midfield for Spain. The type of player who makes the difference between the lines, to make things happen, who can score goals, make assists and have end product,” Fabregas said.
“I think we do need that in the national team.”
Foden is having an exceptional season, netting 21 goals and delivering 10 assists across 41 matches in all competitions for City.
