Ferguson names team he doesn’t want to see win the league

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has singled out the team he hopes won’t clinch the league title this season.

In the English Premier League, the race for the top spot is heating up among Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal, with only 10 fixtures left in the current campaign.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid is dominating La Liga in Spain, Paris Saint-Germain leads the pack in France’s Ligue 1, and Inter Milan holds the top spot in Italy’s Serie A.

Over in the Bundesliga, there’s a potential underdog story unfolding, as Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen sits comfortably 10 points ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich in Germany.

Ferguson is keen to see Thomas Tuchel’s team miss out on the Bundesliga title in Germany as he told the Eintracht Frankfurt website: ‘I always hope to see the underdog win.

‘Bayern fans may not agree with that, but like all the neutral fans in Germany, I really hope to see someone else win the league again.’

Ferguson has ventured a daring forecast for Euro 2024 this summer, playfully suggesting that the host nation Germany stands “no chance” against his cherished Scotland in their opening match.

‘No chance (laughs),’ he added. ‘I’m going to see that game live. I must see it.

‘Scotland are not that bad, you know. They have good midfielders, two good fullbacks.

‘Only the striker position has been difficult in the last few years. The Scottish fans are going to be fantastic.’
