Casemiro claims Man Utd star is one of ‘sharpest players’ he has ever played with

Manchester United’s Casemiro has praised a teammate as being exceptionally astute, a standout in his illustrious career.

Having established his reputation at Real Madrid, Casemiro was renowned as one of the premier defensive midfielders globally, thanks to his achievements with Los Blancos.

During his tenure in Madrid, the 32-year-old Brazilian shared the field with an array of stars, including the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo, who made his mark at both Madrid and Manchester United.

Casemiro’s transfer to Old Trafford in 2022, in a transaction potentially reaching £70m, marked the beginning of an impressive inaugural season in English football.

He quickly became celebrated for bringing much-needed stability and control to Manchester United’s midfield during the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

This season, however, Casemiro’s midfield dominance has been curtailed by injuries, inconsistent performances, and adapting to the tactical demands of manager Erik ten Hag.

Nonetheless, even with a diminished influence this year, the Brazilian captain continues to be a pivotal player for ten Hag when available.

This season, Casemiro has been paired with the young prodigy Kobbie Mainoo, who has experienced a meteoric rise at Old Trafford.

Casemiro has expressed admiration for Mainoo’s abilities, a sentiment echoed by Manchester United’s manager, who acknowledges Casemiro’s mentorship of the young talent.

Yet, despite his bond with Mainoo, Casemiro has singled out another teammate for special mention: Bruno Fernandes, the United skipper, whose precision and acumen in the attacking third have left a lasting impression on the seasoned midfielder.

Speaking to Inside United through Manchester United’s official website, Casemiro said: “[Bruno Fernandes is] one of the sharpest players towards goal I’ve played with in my career.”

Bruno Fernandes, despite facing scrutiny for his leadership and performance levels this term, has been an integral part of Manchester United’s squad since his 2020 induction.

In addition to commending Fernandes, Casemiro has also lauded Christian Eriksen, emphasizing the Danish midfielder’s robustness at the age of 32.

Casemiro admires Eriksen for his meticulous care of the ball and his exceptional passing abilities, which allow him to dictate the pace of the game, always eager to be in possession.

Eriksen, who joined Manchester United alongside Casemiro after departing Brentford on a free transfer, made a notable impact in his first season with the club.

However, similar to Casemiro, Eriksen’s prominence at Old Trafford has diminished during the ongoing Premier League season.
