Ferguson pushing Man Utd to make key signing who could have major impact on club

Sir Alex Ferguson is advocating for Manchester United to enlist the services of a certain individual who has the potential to revolutionize the entire club.

Following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent acquisition of a 25% stake in the club, significant changes are anticipated both on and off the field for United, with some changes already underway.

The appointment of Omar Berrada as the new CEO, poached from rivals Manchester City, was a bold statement showcasing the ambitious plans of the new ownership.

Ratcliffe has also expressed a preference for constructing a new stadium for United rather than refurbishing Old Trafford, a decision met with mixed reactions from fans.

United is also on the verge of confirming Dan Ashworth as their new Sporting Director, recruited from Newcastle United, further demonstrating their strategy of acquiring assets from direct competitors.

The latest development in the off-field restructuring involves Sir Alex Ferguson, who reportedly advocates for United to appoint Dougie Freedman, the sporting director of Crystal Palace, as the club’s new head of recruitment.

According to reports from Football Insider, the Manchester United legend believes that under new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Freedman could bring significant improvements to the team’s recruitment strategy.

Freedman played a pivotal role in Palace’s recent successful signings, notably securing talents like Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, and Michael Olise, all of whom have showcased immense potential despite Palace’s challenges.

These players, particularly the young trio, are likely to command substantial transfer fees if they were to move on, highlighting Freedman’s knack for identifying promising talent.

Ferguson believes that Freedman’s talent-spotting abilities could complement Ashworth’s role in identifying and recruiting such promising players for Manchester United.

The issue of sell-on value has been a concern for United in recent times, with many of the club’s signings seeing a decline in value after joining.
