Giggs tells Jim Ratcliffe the ‘number one’ thing that must change at Man Utd

Ryan Giggs, a Manchester United icon, emphasizes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s foremost concern should be reshaping the club’s culture.

The British billionaire has agreed to acquire a 29% stake in the club, with the deal currently pending ratification from the Premier League.

But Ratcliffe and his INEOS team have wasted no time in getting to grips with life at the club, announcing the appointment of Omar Berrada from Manchester City as the new club’s CEO on Saturday.

‘The Club is determined to put football and performance on the pitch back at the heart of everything we do. Omar’s appointment represents the first step on this journey,’ a statement read.

The promise that a new CEO is the ‘first step on this journey’ will be music to the ears of Man United supporters. Ratcliffe intends to appoint a sporting director and a head of recruitment.

And Giggs says the British billionaire is doing the right thing by tackling the culture at Old Trafford.

‘Like everyone else, it’s frustrating and has been for the last six or seven years,” Giggs tells The Telegraph.

‘Nobody knows the answer and you have to start again.

‘It starts from the top. We’re just so inconsistent and you just never know what you get.

‘That is the number one thing we have to change. The culture of the club. To get players in who want to play for United and will do anything to win a game for United. That is something in the medium-term, we have to get those players in.’
