Ryan Giggs aims dig at Antony when naming the one Man Utd star ‘who gets you off your seat’

Ryan Giggs seemed to subtly criticize Antony while identifying the sole Manchester United player who truly excites the spectators.

Expressing his views on the present situation at Man United, Giggs reappeared in the public eye after being acquitted of domestic abuse charges.

During his commentary, he appeared to make a sly remark about Antony, the player who commanded a remarkable £85 million transfer fee in the summer of 2022.

The legendary figure from Man United, boasting 13 Premier League titles from his tenure at Old Trafford, commended the rise of Alejandro Garnacho, a product of the club’s youth academy.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he said: “He gets you off your seat. He’s giving you 10 times more than the other guy that cost so much more money.”

On Manchester United’s business in the transfer market, Giggs said: “We’ve just recruited terribly for years and years.”

Antony has faced significant criticism for his lackluster displays in a Manchester United jersey.

Despite making 22 appearances in various competitions this season, he has yet to register a goal.

In contrast, 19-year-old Garnacho has emerged as a pivotal player under Erik ten Hag, netting five goals this season, including a remarkable strike against Everton.

Giggs also discussed Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s anticipated 25 percent takeover, which is set to be officially approved next month.

He expresses optimism that Ratcliffe can bring about a positive shift in the ‘culture of the club,’ emphasizing the importance of making astute player signings.

“Like everyone else, it’s frustrating and has been for the last six or seven years,” he added. “Nobody knows the answer and you have to start again. It starts from the top. We’re just so inconsistent and you just never know what you get.

“That is the No.1 thing we have to change. The culture of the club. To get players in who want to play for United and will do anything to win a game for United.

“That is something in the medium-term, we have to get those players in.”
