Lionel Messi has named his 10 favourite teammates in his career

Lionel Messi recently listed his top 10 teammates throughout his extensive career, spanning Barcelona, PSG, Inter Miami, and the Argentina national team.

At 36, Messi has accomplished virtually everything in football, securing his eighth Ballon d’Or in October and the 2023 FIFA Best Award just this month.

His remarkable achievements include clinching the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, earning the Golden Ball for best player, marking a significant milestone in the Messi checklist.

In Qatar, Messi netted seven goals, including a double in the final that led Argentina to victory in a penalty shootout.

Completing the final item on his checklist might involve a tenure with Inter Miami, where he has been for the past four months. The Argentinian icon steered the team to a Leagues Cup triumph within a month of his arrival.

Messi is now accompanied in the United States by ex-Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. There are also rumors linking the MLS franchise with potential moves for fellow Les Cules alumni Luis Suarez and defender Sergi Roberto.

In a recent interview with Titan Sports, Messi was tasked with recalling his most cherished teammates from his remarkable career. Astonishingly, he managed to condense the list to 10.

He kicked off chronologically, acknowledging the early Barcelona days with striking partners Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto’o.

Other Les Cules legends like Xavi and Andres Iniesta made the cut, and Messi also mentioned his new teammate Busquets.

While Messi expanded the list to include several players, all the mentioned individuals were from his time with Barcelona.

He stated (quotes via Daily Mirror): “Ronaldinho, Eto’o, Suarez, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets. I was lucky enough to play with the best players and enjoy the game with them.

“Speaking of which, I almost forgot Neymar because there are so many people. There must be many players I forgot to mention.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play with the best players, with the best strikers. Like Neymar, Eto’o, Suarez, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [David] Villa, and many more.

“I’ve been comfortable playing with all of them, or almost all of them because I’ve been lucky enough to play with the best of them… playing with them is easy.”
