Fernandes reacts to claims Man Utd stars are unhappy with Rangnick’s tactics

Bruno Fernandes has denied claims that some of his Manchester United team-mates are unhappy with Ralf Rangnick’s tactics and he says it would be disrespectful to criticise his methods.

Despite losing just one of his 12 Premier League games since taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the mood around Rangnick’s tenure at United has been far from good.

Rumblings of players’ discontent have been rife, while Rangnick has conceded he had to let the likes of Amad Diallo, Anthony Martial and Van de Beek leave in the January window because they were unhappy.

United stars are reported to have nicknamed Rangnick’s assistant, Chris Armas, after fictional American coach Ted Lasso and the team are not said to be impressed with the German’s coaching.

But, speaking ahead of their clash against Atletico Madrid, Fernandes was asked if the players had any input about the team’s tactics and he dismissed claims that the players are unhappy.

‘About the formation, nobody has to worry about that more than the coach and his staff,’ said Fernandes.

‘We [the players] have to follow what the manager thinks is the best way for us. ‘In this club I never heard someone complain about the tactics and I hope no-one will do that, it is not respectful.’

The Red devils travel to Spain ahead of their UEFA Champions League last-16 first leg game against Atletico Madrid today.

Edinson Cavani will not be part of the team after he failed to recover from a groin injury, which has kept him out of the last three games.

Meanwhile, Nemanja Matic is once again available, while Raphael Varane is again fully fit in time to face the La Liga giants.
