Gabriel Barbosa has appeared to have bid farewell to Flamengo fans after reports in Brazil claimed that Chelsea and West Ham have both made an approach for the in-form striker.
The 23-year-old Brazilian has spent the last year on loan at Flamengo and scored 43 goals in 59 matches for the Brazilian side.
The striker, who is known as ‘Gabigol’, scored two late goals in the Copa Libertadores final against River Plate and ended as the tournament’s highest goalscorer.
Gabigol also played against Liverpool during Flamengo’s loss to the Reds in the Club World Cup final in December.
Flamengo have been keen to sign the Brazilian on a permanent deal from Inter Milan, but reports in Brazil are now claiming that he has two offers from England.
And on Friday evening, Gabigol said that he would not be extending his stay at the Brazilian side with a message on Twitter which read: ‘Thank you for your love.’
Flamengo have reportedly offered £13.6m for 80 per cent of Gabigol’s economic rights but the forward has delayed his response to the Brazilian side as he considers rival offers from around Europe.
Inter Milan signed Gabigol in 2016 but he failed to make an impact and played just 10 matches for the Italian team before he was sent out on loan.
Chelsea are in the market for a new striker to provide cover for Tammy Abraham, while West Ham have a strong interest in Gabigol since 2018.
When asked about a possible move, David Moyes said on Friday: ‘I would love to answer all your questions with great knowledge but because I’ve only been in the door a few days, the truth is I don’t know, I have probably had hundreds of agents putting people into me.
‘But at the moment, the only people I am concentrating on are the players I have here. ‘If good players are available, we will look at them.’
