Erling Haaland recalls exact moment he knew Man City had beaten Arsenal to title

Manchester City’s ace Erling Haaland identified the decisive moment when he felt Arsenal was no longer a threat in the Premier League title chase.

Despite Arsenal’s persistent challenge until the season’s last Sunday, Manchester City secured the title with a 3-1 victory over West Ham.

Striker Haaland, who secured the Golden Boot once again this season, was convinced the race was finished following the second-to-last set of fixtures.

After defeating Tottenham, City controlled their destiny, making the outcome of Arsenal’s concluding game against Everton inconsequential.

‘I think after we won at Spurs, we kinda knew we were going to do it,’ Haaland told Sky Sports after City beat West Ham to clinch the title yet again.

‘Being in the Premier League has been harder than expected. The way every game is like – it’s not a final, but it’s not far away.

‘You can’t relax after 45 minutes. Every game is so intense and tough. Pep demands a lot every day and if you don’t live up to what he expects your in big trouble. I love him to bits.’

Man City duo Kevin De Bruyne & Bernardo Silva have also shared their thoughts on the tense league title battle with Arsenal.

‘We worked so hard for it, it’s been a tough battle with Arsenal and Liverpool,’ De Bruyne said. ‘Doing something historic is so special.

‘This is one of my most special. I had a tough year, being out injured for six months. To come back in the way that I could and to help the team and be at a good level is a good achievement for me personally.’

Silva added: ‘The margins are so small. Liverpool in two seasons, we beat them by one points, now Arsenal by just two points.

‘The achievement is unbelievable. Four in a row, we are so, so proud and so, so happy.’
