Fabián Ruiz netted twice, while Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos also found the back of the net, setting up a showdown with Chelsea in Sunday’s final.
Meanwhile, the defeat means Real Madrid will end the 2024/25 season with just the UEFA Super Cup to their name, a trophy they won last August.
Speaking to the media after the match, Hakimi—who came through Madrid’s academy—seemed to aim a subtle jab at his former club.
As reported by Madrid Zone on social media, Hakimi said: “How did Real Madrid let someone like me leave? It was not me who decided that, it was not me.”
The Moroccan right-back began his football journey at Real Madrid after being recruited from local club CD Colonia Ofigevi.
Following 17 appearances for Los Blancos during the 2017–18 season, Hakimi was loaned out to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund before being permanently transferred to Serie A champions Inter Milan.
In 2021, he completed a high-profile move to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported €60 million fee.
Since joining the Ligue 1 giants, Hakimi has featured in 174 matches and scored 25 goals across all competitions.
After helping PSG secure both the Ligue 1 title and their first-ever Champions League crown in the 2024/25 season, Hakimi and teammate Nuno Mendes are now widely regarded as one of the top full-back duos in world football.
Speaking after the game, PSG boss Luis Enrique said: “It is a very special moment for us, Parisians, for all the supporters, the entire club. I think we did a really good job and played a great match. We’re happy, we’re in the final, and it’s been an incredible season.
“We want to win this final. Everyone saw the stifling heat, it’s incredible to play in that. I think it affected both teams, but we kept playing and fighting. I think it’s a beautiful moment for all Parisians.”
