Jim Ratcliffe approaches Graham Potter to replace Ten Hag at Man Utd

Manchester United have reportedly approached former Chelsea manager Graham Potter as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag, whose position is under increasing scrutiny due to the team’s recent struggles.

In the wake of five defeats in their last eight matches across all competitions, including a 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Eve, concerns have grown regarding Ten Hag’s management.

The team has faced challenges in scoring goals and controlling matches.

Despite their solitary goal against Nottingham Forest, courtesy of a mistake by the opposing goalkeeper and a clinical finish by Marcus Rashford, United finds themselves nine points behind fourth-placed Arsenal after 20 games. They also finished at the bottom of their Champions League group.

With a relatively quiet January schedule for Ten Hag’s side, playing only twice, there is an opportunity for a reset, especially with the transfer window now open for potential reinforcements.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to become a 25 percent minority owner, and his company INEOS is expected to take control of the club’s footballing operations from the Glazer family.

According to sources cited by ESPN, Ratcliffe and INEOS plan to retain Ten Hag until the end of the season, but plans could change if deemed necessary.

Graham Potter, who has been without a job since his dismissal by Chelsea in April, has reportedly been informally approached about his plans for the future, hinting that he could be the preferred choice for INEOS to succeed Ten Hag if a change is deemed necessary.

Potter had previously met with Ratcliffe’s Nice at the end of the last season, discussing the possibility of taking the vacant managerial role, but he did not accept the position.
