In an interview, he highlighted Liverpool and Manchester City as stronger sides compared to Enzo Maresca’s squad at this stage.
“I think we [Chelsea] are a couple of years off [from winning the Premier League title],” Terry said.
“If I am honest, I really do. I don’t want that to be headline stuff, but when I look at Man City, Liverpool, I think they are stronger than us at the moment.
“Arsenal have been really consistent as well, and I am sure they are going to go out and buy players as well.
“So this is why securing Champions League Football next year is big for us, because getting those extra players in that have maybe got a bit of experience.”
The Blues finished in 4th position on the Premier League table during the just concluded 2024/25 campaign.
