Harry Kane matched a Bayern Munich milestone in his team’s 3-1 Bundesliga triumph over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Securing his 24th league goal of the season during the victory, Kane played a crucial role in Thomas Tuchel’s squad overcoming an initial deficit at the Allianz Arena.

When the opposing goalkeeper, Moritz Nicolas, failed to clear a Raphael Guerreiro cross, Kane capitalized by heading the ball into the vacant net.
In accomplishing this feat, Kane equaled a longstanding Bayern record that has endured for an impressive 17 years.
The record was set by Italian icon Luca Toni, who scored 24 goals during the 2007/08 season following his transfer from Fiorentina.
Notably, Kane reached this tally at the start of February, already matching Toni’s record and leading the race for the Golden Boot this season by seven goals.
With Tuchel’s team still having 14 games left to play, Kane is virtually assured of breaking the record unless sidelined by injury.
This achievement stands out even more as Robert Lewandowski, despite a Bundesliga season with 41 goals, only managed 17 in his debut campaign with Bayern in 2014, following a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
Lewandowski’s goal output increased subsequently, but he departed for Barcelona in the summer of 2022 after just one season scoring fewer than 24 goals.
Now, Kane is likely eyeing Lewandowski’s record of 41 league goals in a single season, although helping Bayern close the gap on league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who are two points ahead, remains the primary objective.
He told The Guardian earlier this week: “To be compared with them names [Lewandowski and legendary Bayern striker Gerd Muller] is a great thing, especially in the first season, so it means I’m doing something right.”
