The Frenchman has started just two matches this campaign and is inside the final six months of his Chelsea deal, having joined the Blues from Arsenal in the 2018 January window.
The 33-year-old was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup third round victory against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, and fuelled speculation he is set to leave by appearing to wave goodbye to the crowd at the final whistle.
According to Sky Sports News, the blues failed with a £34m bid for Moussa Dembele, and Lampard hinted Giroud’s exit could hinge on the club bringing in a replacement.
“There’s no update on Ollie, but I’ve spoken with him,” Lampard said of Giroud.
“If the conditions are that it’s something he really wants to do and it works for the club, for me and the squad then it’s something that could happen.
“But only when all of those bases are covered. So we’ll see if we’re there.”
Chelsea are certainly willing to part with Danny Drinkwater, who has returned from a loan spell at Burnley and is not in Frank Lampard’s plans.
Asked if Danny Drinkwater is likely to leave again, Lampard said: “We’ll see. It’s a possibility.”
According to reports, Newcastle would like to sign Giroud on loan for the rest of the campaign but have been told he will not be allowed to leave the club unless the London team can bring in a replacement.
