Leverkusen deny Kai Havertz request to complete Chelsea move this week

Bayer Leverkusen will not allow Kai Havertz leave this week and will have to stay at the club to conclude their Europa League season.

Havertz is so keen on sealing a move to Chelsea this summer and was hoping to have a deal done before the German club’s Europa League game against Rangers.

But Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller has announced that it’s ‘set in stone’ that the midfielder will complete the remainder of their European quest before a move happens.

Should Bayer Leverkusen get to the Europa League final, Kai Havertz won’t be able to leave before August 21.

Voller also says there has been no formal bid for the Germany international, it remains to be seen when the blues will make their first bid.

The two clubs are believed to be about £20million apart in their valuation of the youngster but Voller is adamant the club want the full £91m fee.

Last week, Leroy Sane who recently signed for Bayern Munich appeared to confirm that Havertz was on his way to Chelsea.

‘I think Germany has always had very good young German players. I can’t answer why they’re looking at young players now,’ Sane said.

‘Many young players get their chance and develop well in the Bundesliga. I think that with Werner and Havertz, which are two Germans in one year, Chelsea did a good job.
